It was a long time that I was unemployed. The places that I applied for the job could not help me. After my appeal to “Praxis”, I was invited to public employment office and was provided with job. Now I am preparing to establish my own family. –Unprivileged local from Nizami district of Baku city.
It was a long time that I could not obtain registration for my spouse in our hostel where we live. Finally with the assistance of “Praxis” my problem has been solved and my spouse has got registration” –Refugee from Armenia
Because of financial difficulties, I could not afford medical examination and treatment for a long time. My appeal to “Praxis” resulted positively and I received free treatment. – An IDP from Jabrayil region.
In order to receive Designated State Social Allowance I applied to Agdam Department of Social Protection Fund but couldn’t obtain DSSA. I applied to “Praxis” Information, Counseling and Legal Aid Centre. They informed about the list of relevant documents and procedures. Owing to that I prepared all relevant documents and submitted to the Agdam Department of Social Protection Fund.Now I receive 85 AzN DSAA every month. – An inhabitant of Soganverdiler Settlement of Agdam.
I am housewife and I’ve two underage dependants. My financial situation is limited. Once I needed to draft an appeal to the court, but because of the financial difficulties I could not afford advocates. Then I heard from my friends that there is a “Praxis” organization, which helps unprivileged people like me. I went to the organization. June 2010 Citizens labor rights restored

The main problem of people with disabilities that make a total 4% of general population in Azerbaijan is regarding unemployment, education and social protection. For example, currently 4.73% of people with disabilities in our country have employment. 1.73% of them work at public institutions; other 3% have their own business. There some artificial obstacles made for employment of this people in some institutions.

May 2010 Forcible eviction of IDPs from their place of residence is inadmissable

Forcible eviction of IDPs from their places of temporary residence has increased significantly in recent years. IDPs have been residing in most of these apartments and buildings for more than 18 years since they were forced to flee their houses and land. The problem of forcible eviction has always been in the focus of “Praxis” Support to Social Development public union. “Praxis” office in Sumgayit, like all other offices continues its legal assistance in protection and promotion of IDP rights.

April 2010 Collective problem of village inhabitants solved successfully

Boyuk Bahmanli village is one of the biggest villages of Fizuli region. The village located 48 km south-east of Fizuli city is divided into two parts by Guruchay river. Due to lack of regular cleaning systems, major part of the river became dirty and unclean. Every time after raining the level of the water grows and inflicts damage to the residents. Orchards and plantings are flooded every time when the water level grows. This causes financial and physical damages to population and agriculture.

March 2010 Workshop on Ethical rules of civil servants organized

“Praxis” organized a workshop on 24 February 2010 at the “Respublika Luks” hotel conference room within a project on improving transparency and accountability standards for civil servants in Azerbaijan. The project is funded by the British Embassy. The participants raised and discussed the issues of increasing awareness of civil servants on ethical rules, achieving better implementation of them in practice, ensuring complaint mechanism against violations and accountability before citizens and other relevant issues.

February 2010 Project completion ceremony held in Boyuk Bahmanli village of Fizuli district

On 03 February 2010, “Praxis” Support to Social Development public union in cooperation with the Executive Committee of Fizuli district organized a project completion ceremony in Boyuk Bahmanli village of Fizuli district. The Improvement of water provision project carried out by “Praxis” during the period of November 2009 – January 2010 funded by the Embassy of Japan in the framework of Grass roots and human security project.

January 2010 "Praxis" roundtable highlighted at Ombudsman’s website

“Praxis” Support to Social Development public union in cooperation with the UNHCR organized a roundtable on the cooperation for improving social situation of IDPs in December 2009. Various international and national organizations, local NGOs and Mass Media representatives took part in the work of the roundtable. The representative of Ombudsman’s Apparatus Mr. Mahir Mammadov also participated at the event.

November 2009 The IDP’s right to pension restored

“Praxis” Support to Social Development Public Union continues its work in positive resolution of problems of internally displaced persons and underprivileged families within its Information, Counseling and Legal Aid project. The organization arranges regular mobile visits to the IDP communities, where residents need free legal assistance
